Our Pledge

Ciclomanias is deeply committed to the Seventh Generation Principle, which is based on the ancient Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) philosophy that teaches us that the choices we make today should ensure a thriving, sustainable world for at least seven generations into the future. Our work focuses on empowering youth and communities to become environmental stewards, bridging the wisdom of indigenous ways of life with modern environmental practices. This creates a lasting impact by nurturing a profound connection between people and the land, cultivating ecological consciousness, and ensuring that future generations inherit a healthy and sustainable environment.

Building Resilient Communities: Our educational programs, grounded in Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), teach the next generation the importance of waste reduction, the preservation of native species, and sustainable food practices. By engaging youth in hands-on learning and providing them with the skills to manage waste, restore ecosystems, and promote food sovereignty, we are fostering a new generation of environmental leaders who will carry these teachings forward.

Waste Reduction and Circular Economy: Through our waste diversion efforts—such as upcycling materials, reducing landfill waste, and creating sustainable systems—we are taking tangible actions to protect future generations from the growing environmental challenges associated with pollution and resource depletion. Our approach helps communities adopt circular economy practices that reduce the need for new resources, thus safeguarding the planet for the future.

Restoring Ecosystems and Protecting Biodiversity: By working to restore native habitats and conserve local species, we are ensuring that future generations can experience and benefit from rich, biodiverse ecosystems. These actions not only enhance the natural environment but also provide the foundation for a resilient planet that can sustain future human and ecological needs.

Sustaining Cultural Knowledge: One of the core components of our work is reconnecting youth with their indigenous roots and cultural heritage. By learning from Elders and incorporating TEK into modern practices, we ensure that future generations are equipped with a deep, respectful understanding of the land and the ways in which humans can live in harmony with nature. This knowledge, passed down through generations, becomes a guiding light for sustainable living practices that future generations will rely on.

Empowering Youth for Future Leadership: Ultimately, Ciclomanias aims to leave a lasting legacy of empowered, knowledgeable youth who will continue to care for and protect the environment. By providing training, job opportunities, and a platform for youth to become environmental advocates, we are ensuring that the values of sustainability and ecological stewardship are passed on, creating a ripple effect that will last for generations.

In line with the Seventh Generation Principle, Ciclomanias is not only working to resolve present-day environmental issues but also ensuring that our actions today serve the health, vitality, and sustainability of our communities and the Earth for generations to come.
